SMPYA Foundation

The St. Martin Promoting Young Ambassadors Foundation was founded on the 19th of July 2004.

The foundation was created to mould young persons in the community who will evolve into ambassadors for St. Martin.

The goal of the foundation is to promote self-development of youngsters by enhancing their self -esteem through a range of activities which help to create a well rounded talented, decorous and eloquent youngster who in turn will be an ambassador for Saint Martin.

The foundation’s first Venture was in 2004 when the foundation was given the license to hold the first ever Ms. St. Martin Hibiscus Pageant, a pageant which was to select a winner to represent St. Martin in the Miss Caraibes Hibiscus pageant.

In 2005 the SMPYA Foundation held its first “Hot Couture” fashion show which showcased young children, teenagers as well as adults in this St. Martin’s day fundraising event. The fashion show also showcased the participants for the Ms. St. Martin pageant 2005.  Various St. Martin fashion designers such as Kai designs and Sandra Illidge to name a few displayed their designs at this show, the support was tremendous and this was labeled as yet another successful event organized by the SMPYA foundation.

In 2006 the SMPYA foundation organized an audition at which Ms. Giselle Hilliman was chosen to represent St. Martin at the 2006 Ms. Universe pageant which was held later that year in Los Angeles.

The foundation took a hiatus and resurfaced once again in 2010 with a new project to promote youngsters.

This project was called The Saint Martin Interscholastic Idol.
